Bonner County Noxious Weed Control Programs
For 2011 the Bonner County Noxious Weed Control Department will continue to offer weed identification, site review, herbicide type/rate advice. Rental sprayers, booklets and brochures and other land management information.
Please contact the Bonner County Public Works- Noxious Weed Control Department, at 335 McGhee Rd., Suite 107., Sandpoint, ID 83864, telephone 208- 255-5681 or 263-3175.
Spraying of Road Right of Ways
All three road districts could be sprayed with herbicides on weed infested right-of-ways this spray season, May through September. If you do NOT want the right-of-ways adjacent to your property sprayed, obtain a No Spray Agreement application from the Noxious Weed Control Department.
These forms and accompanying “NO SPRAY” signs are free; the signs MUST BE POSTED by the owner at the property corners. Property owners are responsible for the eradication of noxious weeds in those areas. We cannot honor signs that are not obtained from our Department and particularly, without a signed Agreement. If weed control has not happened on or before July 15th the marked No Spray area may be sprayed for weed infestations.
Bonner County will continue to offer our Neighborhood Co-Op program. All applications for this program may be obtained from our office and must be returned to the same office by April 30, 2011. The program provides for some reimbursement of herbicide expense for landowner groups.
There are grant funds available to treat weed infested areas. If there is an interest from a public agency contact the Noxious Weed Control Department.
April 14, 2011 at the COUNTY Extension office from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Credits are available for applicators along with good information on noxious weed treatments, Bio-control, Aquatic weeds, Home and garden care, and sprayer calibrations.
The Idaho Weed Law (Idaho Code Title 22, Chapter 24) places the responsibility and obligation for controlling noxious weeds on the land owner or manager. State designated noxious weeds known to be in or imminently threatening Bonner County includes:
